Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has shared her initial thoughts on her co-star Johnny Ruffo.

Johnny, 35, played the role of Chris Harrington on the Channel Seven soap from 2013 to 2016 following his stint on The X Factor.

Lynne told 7Life, she remembers ‘rolling her eyes’ when the singer landed a role on the soap and thinking he was ‘not an actor’ but admits she was ‘so so wrong’.

‘I did see him on X Factor and I remember thinking he was gorgeous, smart, funny and a beautiful guy,’ she recalled.

‘I thought he was such a talent but then rolled my eyes going, “Well, he’s not an actor so what the hell is he doing here?”‘

Lynne admitted her initial thoughts on the singer ‘were so so wrong’.

‘It couldn’t have been further from the truth because he was a hard worker; he really, really wanted to nail it and learn about acting,’ she continued.

‘Johnny doesn’t take himself too seriously for a young, handsome, talented man — he must have had women falling all over him.’

It comes after Lynne recently said Johnny was one of the heroes in her life.

The actor is currently battling a diagnosis of terminal cancer and celebrated his 35th birthday in March.

In August 2022, he confirmed his brain cancer diagnosis was terminal and said he feared how his girlfriend Tahnee would cope once he is gone.

‘You can only imagine how difficult it’s been for her,’ Johnny said on The Project.

‘What plays in my head a lot is, I hate to say this, how hard it may be for her if something does happen to me.

‘So, it’s something that I don’t want to think about. It just gets me a little bit emotional about it because I know at some point something will happen, whether it’s, you know, a month from now or 10 years from now or 20 years.’

Johnny told then-host Carrie Bickmore he had already outlived his life expectancy.

‘At some point it will get me but I’m still fighting. Still kicking on. Looking up my diagnosis and my tumour, the average life expectancy was three years,’ he said.

Johnny went into remission months after his initial diagnosis in 2017, but revealed in November 2021 the disease had returned.
